IntelliCPCP®: Dynamic Clearance Self-Adjustment for All-Metal PCP Systems
During heavy oil production, changes in temperature, viscosity, water cut, and fluid rates often cause the stator-rotor fit to mismatch with downhole conditions. If the clearance is too small, the operating torque increases; if the clearance is too large, pumping efficiency drops. For wells with high viscosity, fluctuating water cuts, or those in the late stages of thermal recovery, the clearance between the stator and rotor is critical to both lifting stability and efficiency.
